Business Development & Operations Intern

Overall Function:

The intern will work with the Aurore leadership team on strategic projects and initiatives that support Aurore’s growth and development. He or she will gain exposure to general business functions throughout the organization and develop a comprehensive understanding of how the industry works, the driving factors that impact our business, and how to approach and prioritize business problems to advance our  company initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning, directing, and controlling all operational activities.

  • Identify relevant fundraising opportunities and support leadership with applications.

  • Assist management in establishing performance objectives and strategic planning.

  • Optimize and maintain our CRM accurate with account details and contact information.

  • Assist with the execution of Aurore go-to-market & sale strategies.

  • Support activities related to supply chain management.

  • Work with Executive Leadership to develop business strategies, processes and procedures.

  • Monitor and report about relevant stories, news, field developments and key policies related to Aurore’s work to support and advance the company’s business initiatives and strategy.

  • Data cleansing and Data Entry

  • Provide support to Executive Leadership as needed.

  • Finally:

    • Be curious about how our business operates.

    • Use critical thinking to solve problems.

    • Learn to work with different internal teams.

    • Effectively communicate with leadership.

    • Focus on continual learning and improvement.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated interest and experience in business development or business operations.

  • Coursework in business, finance or management a plus.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially excel.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong ability to meet deadlines.

  • Must be well organized, motivated, and detail-oriented.

  • Ability to work in a team setting and have the ability to work independently when projects are due.

  • Demonstrates initiative and problem solving skills.

  • Clear interest in social entrepreneurship, ethical beauty, nonprofit work, human rights and civic action.

  • Thrives in a multicultural environment.

  • Flexibility to work remotely and in-person at different locations around town.

Seeking a 12 to 24 weeks commitment to work in Washington, DC from April-September, 2019. Start and end dates are flexible. Part time (20 hours/week) and full time (35-40 hours/week) internship opportunities are available. Hours are flexible, but priority will be given to candidates who can dedicate a significant amount of time to the internship opportunity.  

Note: This is an unpaid internship. We provide a $50 travel stipend monthly for part-time and $100 for full-time internship positions. As the social enterprise grows, we hope to take on the successful candidate into a paid role (based upon performance). We will offer a letter of recommendation upon satisfactory completion of the internship and will sponsor events and conferences attendance to promote your personal development.
